WILD MOUNTAIN THYME

SONGS FROM THE BALCONY

Written by Paisley poet Robert Tannahill in the early 1800's. In this courtship song a young man tries to tempt his love to join him in a romanticised highland idyll. It's a beautiful bit of escapism, it has been widely sung in Scotland and Ireland, in fact anywhere the Scots and Irish settle. So all over the world you could expect people to join in.

Jim sings the chorus...

"Will you go Lassie go?

And we'll all go together

To pull wild mountain thyme

All around the purple heather"

This is an early recording of an arrangement we expect to develop.
